Web Design by Matt Freakin Blake
As a small business owner, you might not know where to start with your website, and you may have some questions:
- How important is web design?
- Why should I hire a Professional?
- Don't I just need a little text and a few pictures?
- What is Optimization? How will it help my business?
How Important is web design?
Very important, if you want to generate leads, clients, and sales from your website. Your website needs to look good, be easy to navigate, and be full of content that attracts customers and sales. It needs to be easy for your clients to find what they need, and then convert those site visitors into leads by having a clear call to action, so that they call, email, or otherwise contact your business to generate sales. I know how to do this quickly, effectively, and in just the right way.

Why should I hire a professional?
Unless you're a mechanic you probably aren't going to rebuild your car's engine. If you aren't a plumber you wouldn't try to fix a complex plumbing problem... sure, you could try to fix your own plumbing, fix your car, repair your own roof, repave your driveway; but aren't these things better left to the professionals? It's a better use of your time to focus on your business and your area of expertise. And your website is no exception! You might have a friend or family member that "knows how to build a web page", we've seen a lot of poorly build and performing sites build by the business owner's friend. I have years of design training and marketing experience, I stay updated on the latest trends and technology... I know what I'm doing. For the same reason that you hire other professionals... you want the job done right. That's why you should hire a professional Web Designer.

Don't I just need a little text and a few pictures?
While this might be true... the actual website means much more than that. In order to function properly your site needs to be build correctly. 83% of web searches are done via a mobile device. Do you know if your site functions when someone views it on their phone? And what about those pictures... did you take them yourself, did you get them from google? You don't want to be the target of a copyright claim for illegally using someone else's photos! Have a site that is formatted to work in every browser, is easy for your customers to navigate, and shows up in the search engines is crucial to your marketing success online. Google will rank you higher based on a large number of criteria... including how your photos are named, if your site works on mobile, and the quality of your content (did you copy that text from another source?). Taking care of all the specifics is what makes me an expert in Web Design!

What is Optimization? How will it help my business?
We already talked about one form of Web Optimization; Responsive Design, meaning your site being optimized for mobile devices and other browsweras. Every site I design will work on mobile devices. This gives you an edge over the hundreds of thousands of sites that just don't work on mobile.
The other type of optimization is Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). SEO is vitally important to make sure you get the most out of your website. Did you know that if you are not in the first 5 results on Google, then you get less than 3% of clicks! And if you're not on the first page, forget about it! SEO includes making sure your site is formatted, filled, and filed so that it can appear as high as possible in search engines (specifically Google). This includes writing unique content to fill each page with keyword specific text, naming and labeling photos so Google can read them, making sure your site is mobile optimized, and several other "on site" factors. This also involves work that takes place "off site", that is... in other places on the web, including: Google Maps / Google My Business, web citations, back-links, social media, and many other sources. I know what works, how to make it happen, and how to make it happen fast!
